Improvements continue to be made with Liquid Optically Clear Adhesives (LOCA). These advances improve processes for the curing, performance and reworkability of displays.
The processing performance improvements either allow for a secondary cure mechanism via moisture/air in addition to the standard UV curing or you can print or dispense a primer that would kick off the secondary cure. This second cure is especially helpful when needing a printed window border on cover-glass that causes a shadow cure situation.
Do you have difficulty adhering to materials? Low surface energy materials? Knowing your material substrates is important in determining the best LOCA for your part's environment and processing. Manufacturers now offers various formulations depending on the types of sustrate combinations that need to be bonded together.
Do you bond bricks? LCDs and touchscreens as well as custom printed cover-glass are expensive to throw away if you cannot rework them. Some manufacturers offer LOCA's that allow you to mechanically seperate the components and clean them up for reuse. This helps to improve your yields and your bottom line.
Do your research before you have a supplier bond expensive components with LOCA's. You'll be glad you did!
