Components: Set of four sill plates

Application: '03-'07 Acura MDX door sills

Challenge: Material selection, unique finish specifications and fabrication process.

Solution: GM Nameplate assisted the customer in the design of the part from initial material selection through manufacturing. The design required a thick (.080") yet extremely bright aluminum alloy that would remain bright even after anodizing. GM Nameplate located a source for the aluminum, researched anodizers and worked closely with the chosen anodizer to develop the colorization and brightening processes to achieve the desired finish. GM Nameplate also overcame the challenge of the beveled edge design by developing a proprietary tooling process which made it possible to fabricate the parts without machining them.
