GM Nameplate, Announces ITAR Registration
GM Nameplate, a leading manufacturing solutions provider, announces today that their Elite Plastics division now is International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) registered.
Elite Plastics has worked to meet all ITAR compliance requirements in their organizational structure, documentation, training, quality systems, technology control plans and procedures. A commitment to ITAR compliance ensures that Elite Plastics has the knowledge, ability and regulatory oversight to properly handle defense articles and technology.
ITAR is a set of United States government regulations that controls the manufacture and export of defense-related articles and services, including technical data. Companies that manufacture military, aerospace, munitions and communication equipment may need to comply with ITAR mandated standards to satisfy legal restrictions.
“We’ve spoken with companies worried about finding vendors experienced with ITAR,” stated Dan Thurmond, Elite Plastics President. “GM Nameplate is committed to ITAR compliance for its domestic facilities and this announcement of compliance by its Elite Plastics division is a major step towards this goal.”
Multi-million dollar fines have been recently levied against companies for failure to properly comply with the ITAR. Companies applying for ITAR registration stipulate that they maintain the knowledge and ability to fully comply with ITAR and that they maintain procedures and controls that ensure compliance.
“GM Nameplate received ITAR registration in order to meet our customers’ requirements,” stated Thurmond. “There are few domestic custom manufacturers with both our range of capabilities and our time-tested quality systems; and even fewer with the procedures in place to meet strict ITAR standards. Our customers rely on us to protect their information and we take that responsibility seriously.”
