Membrane Switches
Overlays
Laser-cut Blanks

Most membrane switches include at least an overlay, spacer, circuit (blank or functional) and adhesive layers. Shielding layers and/or features can also be added. The components may be ordered as an assembly or stand alone parts.

Price: 5-10 pieces start at $2500 (price may increase depending on complexity).

Lead Time:
10 business days or less for most membranes.

Materials:
Standard stocked materials for the circuit layer are .005” and .007” polyester.Overlays are typically a velvet-textured polycarbonate, .005" to .010" thick. Spacers and adhesives are normally made from 3M spacer and adhesive stock, various thicknesses. Other materials may be available upon request.

Size:
Maximum part size (including the tail) is 11” x 17”.

Traces:
.015" trace widths on .025" centers are the smallest we can print (1mm pitch tails are the smallest we will provide for prototypes).

Circuit Inks: CI-1001 Silver ECM Ink, CI-2001 Carbon ECM Ink, DI-7502 Dielectric ECM Ink and DI-7503 Dielectric ECM Ink.

Protection:
Dielectric printed over any exposed trace, particularly on the tail, is the default design. .002” mylar laminate is available as an alternative to dielectric for trace protection.

Crossovers:
Available for circuits that require two layers of printed conductive ink.

Design files:
Layout in AutoCAD, graphic files in Adobe Illustrator (default).
GM Nameplate maintains current or very near current versions of most design programs.

Remember: Turn time is the driving factor behind the Instant Intaq membrane switch program. While we always strive for quality, membrane switch prototypes are guaranteed to serve as proof of concept parts, not as pre-production or production quality parts (i.e., the membrane assemblies will function and the overlay's colors will be reasonably close to specified colors; however, the functional membranes will not be built to meet exact specifications.)
